Lower Body Lift Overview
Board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Theodore T. Foley offers lower body lift surgery to improve the appearance of the torso, abdomen, thighs, and buttocks by removing loose, excess skin. This procedure utilizes multiple lift surgeries to achieve a slimmer, smoother body contour. At Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery of Central Pennsylvania in Camp Hill, PA, Dr. Foley uses advanced techniques and the latest technology to accomplish a sleeker silhouette in the lower half of the body. During the procedure, excess skin and some areas of fat are removed from the lower body to tighten the skin around the muscle and tissues. During a private consultation, Dr. Foley will create a customized plan that best suits your needs and can recommend other procedures that can further enhance your appearance.
Reasons for LBL
Many patients seek a lower body lift for the following reasons:
- Stubborn fat that resides in the abdominal wall, thighs, and buttocks
- Lax skin in multiple areas on the lower body
- Have lost a significant amount of body weight
- Want to change the shape of body for a more attractive figure
"Best plastic surgeon in the area! After exploring several options, I chose Dr. Foley because he was very qualified and knowledgeable. He was caring, professional and did a great job. He talked me through the procedure step by step. His staff was amazing and caring as well. He made sure I was pain free the entire time and put me at ease. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking plastic surgery."- Anonymous / Office Visit / Jun 28, 2017
"I was referred to Dr. Foley through a friend for removal of basal cell cancer on my upper lip. Originally, I was scheduled for MOHS through dermatology at a local medical teaching facility. The EOB - for the teaching facility - for the biopsy and initial visit showed very high charges, including a "facility fee" of over $700. I was informed that I had to wait almost five months for the procedure. That's when I started looking for alternatives. Thankfully, I found Dr. Foley. Cancer removed, clean edges, no scar and the procedure was done the week I called for an appointment. The cost? A small fraction of what is charged at the medical teaching facility. Did I mention the staff? Very professional and friendly. Lesson learned - getting the best health care solution does not have to be expensive."- M.S. / Yelp / Mar 06, 2020

Lower Body Lift Surgical Techniques
As discussed in your treatment planning session, there will be multiple procedures completed at once during a lower body lift. Common procedures performed within a lower body lift are a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), panniculectomy, thigh lift, and butt lift. The surgical technique will be discussed with you, along with the risks and what type of scar it will make. Our diligent plastic surgeons will take the necessary precautions to hide scarring, made by the incisions, within the natural folds and creases of your skin. We can also mask or obliterate scars with nonsurgical scar removal procedures.
Lower Body Lift During/After Surgery
All of the lower body lift procedures will be performed at a local hospital or an accredited surgical center with a general anesthetic. Depending on the number of procedures performed within your lower body lift, the length of your operation could last 3 – 4 hours or longer. You may be required to spend several nights in the hospital so that your progress can be monitored as this is a very extensive procedure. Your post-operation nurse will also manage your level of pain and help minimize your discomfort.
Once you are home recovering, we ask that you rest for at least 2 weeks post-op, and continue to take all medications you were prescribed. Swelling and bruising are normal body responses to this surgery, and it may take 6 months or more to fully recover. Delayed healing, bleeding, scarring, infection, and blood clotting in the legs are all risks that can be avoided with precaution and care.
You will need to make gentle movements starting on day 2 to keep your blood circulating. Wear compression garments as recommended by your plastic surgeon, especially wear the abdominal compression garment for the first 12 weeks. You may be able to resume strenuous activities in week 8, or at the recommendation of your plastic surgeon.
Lower Body Lift Other Considerations
Though differences are visible within the first week, it takes 6 – 12 months before the optimal appearance becomes apparent in your body contour. Your skin will continue to age, and you will still experience a skin laxity change over the course of your lifetime. It is truly important to adhere to a healthy lifestyle and exercise regimen after a lower body lift so that you can enjoy the results of this surgery for many years.

Cost of Lower Body Lift
The cost of a Lower Body Lift ranges on average from $16,000. If you are comparing prices between different plastic surgery practices, make sure you are comparing the fees which include all aspects of your upcoming surgery. These prices include the physician, anesthesia, and facility fees assuming that your surgery is being completed in a surgery center. If your surgery needs to be performed at the hospital, the fees will be ~$1500-$2000 more depending on the procedure, the surgical time, and whether or not you choose to stay overnight at the hospital. Also, your best choice for a cosmetic procedure of any kind is to choose a plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Theodore Foley, who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who is local to you. Not only will you receive the best surgical care that way, but you will also receive the best postoperative care. At Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery of Central PA, we encourage patients to call for a complimentary personal consultation with our plastic surgeon so a customized quote can be prepared for you by our staff. Prices are subject to change and are our current estimate of the price which is inclusive of physician, facility, anesthesia at a surgical center. Some procedures, which do not require anesthesia, may be done at our office and would not then entail an anesthesia fee. If patients need to have their surgery at a hospital, prices are typically more expensive and will be outlined after consultation.
